Faaria is Muhammad’s sister whose wedding to Rumaisa I shot last year, it was wonderful to see some familiar faces amongst the guests. The day started at Faaria’s family home in Durban where all the ladies were having their make-up and hair done, then I headed off to the NMJ Islamic Centre to take photos of the magnificent décor, followed by the arrivals and the rest of the wedding day. Yaseen and Faaria opted to do a post wedding shoot which we did at the Fairmont Zimbali resort on a cold and rainy day, so I had to make use of the hotel interiors. There are so many nooks and crannies at that hotel that I really didn’t battle for locations at all. They were very relaxed in front of the camera and great to work with, Yaseen is a man of few words and wanted to keep his beautiful bride happy, I barely had to ask Faaria to do anything because she was a natural. They were very brave at the end of the shoot when they were willing to walk on the narrow ledge of the pool in the pouring rain, all because I had an idea for a photo.
