Matt & Bonny – Eden Lassie
Bonny was a bride who knew exactly what she wanted, the day was planned with military precision and everything ran so smoothly that this wedding was a dream to photograph. There were so many stunning little details, from the reception decor through to Bonny’s bouquet. They both got ready (seperately) at Matt’s mothers home in Gillitts, which was wonderfully decorated so it provided plenty of prettiness for the photographs.
The boys had a relaxing game of pool at the pub before getting in to their suits, while the girls were having a lot of fun making sure Bonny was taken care of.
I’ve seen plenty of anxious grooms waiting at the alter for their brides, but Matt was cool, calm and collected the whole time. Well, it seemed like it anyway but you never know what’s happening beneath the surface! When Bonny did her bouquet tossing it got stuck in the draping, what a classic moment! Luckily there was a back-up bouquet.
It was a wonderful wedding, thank you Matt & Bonny for making me a part of your big day and congratulations!
Bobby & Rona – The Windmills
What a cool, fun couple. Bobby and Rona came down from Joburg to get married at The Windmills in Nottingham Road, KZN. I was booked well in advance and everything was planned to perfection. They chose the venue because Bobby used to work for a company who manufacture them, and the theme carried through to their menus and other bits and bobs. Rona must be one of the happiest and bubbliest brides ever, her email address even contain the words ‘fun’ and ‘bubbly’. She is also the sister of a very talented copywriter named Carole who I worked with back in my corporate days, which seems like forever ago now.
It was a glorious sunny day, everything ran to a tee. There were no hiccups, delays or mishaps. We got back from the creative shoot and the sunset was so magnificent that we rushed to the edge of the water to grab a few more shots, personally they ended up being some of my favourites from the day. All in all it was a wonderful wedding.
Congratulations Bobby & Rona, hope you like the pics!
Jared & Nicola – Hartford House
This was wedding number 19 of the year for me. It was my first after the winter break and I could barely walk on Sunday I was so stiff, but it was all worth it. Beautiful couple, stunning venue and near perfect weather. What more could a photographer ask for?
Jared was a little camera shy at first, so I just said “Go chill at the end of the jetty with your groomsmen and have some fun” while I stood far away with a big zoom lens and shot away. Which is pretty much what we agreed I’d do at our pre-wedding meeting. By the time the creative shoot came along though, he was fully in to it. Nicola was a natural from the moment I arrived. She has such an expressive way about her, which provided me with plenty of good ‘moments’ shots. When I arrived to shoot her preparation the room looked like chaos but everyone was surprisingly relaxed, sipping champagne and joking. I had plenty of time to get a little more creative with the details too. When I introduced myself to the marriage official she simply said “Go wild, if I’m in your shot just tell me.” That was just the icing on the cake for me, it doesn’t get closer to perfection than that. The reception had heaters and a fire which kept everyone warm, and the jazz band kept the festive atmosphere going until the party really started.
All in all it was fantastic. Thanks for hiring me to document your big day guys, and congratulations!
Darren & Stefan – Lastingham
Darren & Stefan were married at Lastingham in the KZN Midlands. We did the creative shoot before the ceremony to avoid having the guests waiting, and also it would have been night time by the time the ceremony was finished. It was a great day for everyone there and I got some wonderful shots. The decor was magnificent and the cake was one of the most elaborate ones I’ve ever seen. Congratulations guys!
Donovan & Malinda – Granny Mouse
Donovan & Malinda had the smallest wedding I’ve ever shot, 20 people. It was a really lovely intimate day with no big bridal party and hundreds of guests. With the ceremony being at 11am, it was an early start for me. I was packed up and ready to be home in time for supper, which is almost unheard of for a wedding photographer.
Thanks for choosing me to shoot your big day guys!
