Gareth & Kerrey – The duBoirs
Gareth and Kerrey came down from Joburg to get married at The duBoirs near Hillcrest, it was a great day and they were really fun to work with. Gareth is the organiser between the two, while Kerrey seemed calm and collected. The ceremony was held under the big tree in The duBoirs gardens followed by some heartfelt speeches and a good party at the reception. There wasn’t much afternoon light to work with when it came to doing the creative photos, so I had to use the surroundings to create some mood.

Ryan & Jennifer – Hillside Lodge
There’s something about Bulwer. It seems every time I go there I feel awake and alive, maybe it’s the fresh air and wide open spaces. I was stoked when Jennifer called me to say they had changed their venue to a farmhouse with an amazing view in the country. The only trick was that I had just stepped off the plane home from Kobus & Lynn‘s wedding the day before in Muldersdrift, but the tiredness disappeared as soon as I got out the car and breathed in the fresh air. With camera in hand, I went in to cruise control.
The setting was absolutely stunning and the weather was perfect. Ryan and Jennifer along with their closest friends and family were all smiles the whole day. Congratulations guys, I wish you all the best for the future, and thanks so much for considering me when you changed your date too. It was a real privilege spending the day with you and your loved ones.

Justin & Shiraz Engagement – Madame Zingara
We did this cutesy shoot for Justin & Shiraz with lots of pastels at Madame Zingara. The weather was overcast, which is a photographers dream. With such a great couple and such a great venue, it was easy to take wonderful photographs!
Danie & Natascha – The Boathouse
The are three words I can use to describe Danie & Natascha’s wedding at The Boathouse in Ballito. The first is ‘wind’, the wind was so strong that it was blowing my tripods and lights over. Natascha’s hair and vail were blowing all over the place, to the point where her dear sister and maid of honour Zelmarie was actually holding it in place through most of the ceremony. It also presented a challenge when it came to doing the photo shoot. The second word is ‘family’. All the family members had flown in from all over the country for the wedding, and from what I was told a lot of them had lost their tickets back home because of 1Time closing down. It didn’t effect the mood at all though, because everyone was in the greatest of spirits and did their best to make Danie and Natascha’s wedding wonderful. The third word is ‘love’, because sometimes you can just feel the close and deep love that not only the bride and groom have for each other, but all the family members too. There was an extraordinary amount of laughs, fun and hugs all around and everywhere you looked.
It’s not often that the groom goes to the photographer at the reception to ask if he’s had dinner, but that’s just one small example of how great this couple are. What a wonderful wedding, congratulations Danie & Natascha. Thanks for choosing me to capture your big day, it was a real honour!

Lubz & Tabisa – The duBoirs
Most of the couples who’s weddings I photograph are from Johannesburg, and Lubabalo and Tabisa are no different. They were such a great couple, both of them were full of fun and humble at the same time.
It was a wonderful sunny morning when I arrived at The du Boirs for their wedding. They were running late so I walked around the venue shooting the scenery for quite a while, the gardens are immaculately landscaped with a little stream down below. The du Boirs has become one of my favourite venues to shoot. It’s spacious, upmarket, it has comfortable accommodation and a bridal salon, and to top it all off it’s not even a twenty minute drive home!
Michelle from The Perfect Plan did a wonderful job behind the scenes with her meticulous organisation, while Dave from Brand New Day Imaging did the video.
Congratulations Lubabalo and Tabisa!
